Pet hair can be a real nightmare to keep off of clothes – we’ve all pulled something out of the washing machine to find it looking like the cat went in there with it! Pet hairs are sharp, fine, and get woven into things easily, so sometimes it’s just unavoidable to have some on your clothes. However, there are a few tips and tricks we have learned over the year – and we are happy to share! If you have a real problem with pet hair, consider looking at a specialist took like the bissell pet stain eraser.
If you have a tumble dryer, pop your clothes in for a heat-free, tumble only cycle of about ten minutes. This helps to loosen the hair and soften the fabric which gets rid of some hair in preparation for your wash.
If you don’t have a tumble dryer, quickly running a lint roller over your clothes will make the world of difference.
Before you wash (whether or not you have used the tumble dryer trick) briefly shake out all of your clothes.
You could also add about 150ml of white vinegar to your wash, which helps to relax the fibres.
Again, if you have a tumble dryer, use dryer sheets or dryer balls in order to reduce static and lessen the bond between the hair and the fabric.
Some pets will let you bathe them –apparently! If you can get away with that, a good tip is to blow dry your pet after their bath, massively reducing the amount of hair they lose. If your pets are anything like ours, it’s probably better for everyone’s sanity to take them to a pet grooming place!
Brushing can make a huge difference, so try to catch the fluffy monsters while they sleep! Apparently, making sure they have a balanced diet can help reduce shedding too.
